Although Philadelphia may be the mural capital of the world, Baltimore also is famous for its murals. According to one website, the history of murals in Baltimore goes back to the 1920s, when “[t]he Society of Beaux Arts Architects actively created the first murals in the city[.]” More recently, more than 250 murals have been produced by the Baltimore Mural Program. You can use a map to find Baltimore murals. You also can see Baltimore murals on a tour. Instead of using a map or taking a tour, we prefer to wander the city and find murals by chance. Below are photographs of some of the murals we’ve stumbled across on our walks. We hope you enjoy them seeing them as much as we enjoyed finding them.
